Mr Richard J Dilworth MVO Chairman

Richard has been a member of the Club since 1995. This is his second time on the Club’s board having previously served as a director from 2001 to 2010, during which time he also chaired the Membership Committee. Richard’s aim as Club Chairman is to support the leadership and management in their continued success in profitably delivering a first class offering to our membership, steeped in military tradition and standards, yet welcoming to all .

Richard served in the Royal Engineers for ten years before starting on a business career which continues today. He has shareholdings and board positions in a number of businesses in sectors ranging from architecture, through advanced nuclear energy production, to private equity and property development. He is also an M&A Advisory Partner at a European investment bank.

Richard is a committed philanthropist who supports and governs a number of charities which seek to make the maximum impact from their available financial resources, particularly in areas that impact the lives of young people. He is Chairman of the UK’s Royal Aero Club Trust and has given over 600 bursaries to young people to help them to advance in air sports and aviation. He also Chairs the National Byway Trust which manages safe leisure cycling infrastructure in the UK and is a Trustee of the Norman Foster Foundation (UK) which funds travelling scholarships in partnership with RIBA, architectural undergraduate bursaries at UCL, and student bursaries at The BRIT School. Richard is also an Honorary Lecturer at UCL and sits in the London Council of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI).

He is married with two adult children and in his spare time enjoys cycling, running, and playing polo for the Armed Forces Veterans. In 2024 he was awarded the Royal Aero Club Silver Medal for outstanding contribution to aviation in the UK. He was also appointed MVO in the 2006 New Year Honours for services to the Royal Household and the Crown Estate.
